Life in Phonren-
First of all, read phoren as foreign...Back home, most of the people still says their relatives/son/daughter lives in foreign when asked about them, rather than saying the exact country.
When J & I decided to move to foreign aka U.S.A.,J was skeptical about how I will adjust here.Even I was nervous, but I was showing that I am really confident that I will find life there exciting & am all prepared. The first step,of course, was applying for visa.As the visa interview date was coming,I was becoming more n more nervous.I collected all the documents needed & sorted them n showed it to J hindered times so I wouldn't miss anything. But I goofed up as I didn't get my original big wedding album with me,instead,I take my small wedding album which does not have all the photos.Earlier when I asked J about it,he was okie about it but then he was demanding the original album which was at my parents house. So I called up my father n he sent the album with driver.(I was continuously thinking why would Visa officer want to see my big,fat wedding album?Well a person with common sense would easily tell whether two people are really married or not...)Though I have written this incidence in 2-3 lines, believe me it was not so simple.
Our interview was in Mumbai at 8 a.m.,so we decided to leave from Pune in the morning around 5 a.m. In night, suddenly heavy rain started with a storm.we were awake all night wondering if we could reach Mumbai at all.Despite of rain,we left Pune at decided time n reached the venue well before time. Now we were all prepared for the interview. We waited in the line for almost 2 hours n then inside more 2 hours.By 12 in the noon,we were giving interview. The visa officer asked all the personal questions he could asked like how I met my husband? Do we have any children? What I am planning to do in U.s.? After series of questions, we got visa.Hurray...Hey but wait a minute where is my watch, asked J.I managed to loose his watch & after some time he managed to loose his phone.
Now I was all set to prepare for leaving my beloved home, city behind me.Being a true Indian, I packed all spices.I shopped till I drop.Mean while J was making me nervous by telling that I won't like life there,I would be so homesick that I would nag him to send me back. But I was keeping myself in high spirit by thinking all the good things.
Now, finally the day has come when we are leaving for U.S..OMG,how can I possibly survive without seeing my parents, without fighting with my darling bro, without eating dosas at Krishna, without gossiping with my friends...I am going to miss everything.....
